The young bucks of Tangini (Tannenbaum + Mangini) headed into their first war room last weekend and came away with the spoils.

The New York Jets passed over a big name ticket like Matt Leinart and didn't try to reach for the sky when Reggie Bush fell to number two. The new brain trust of the Jets built from the core, the foundation, one brick at a time when they picked D'Brickashaw Ferguson (OT) and Nick Mangold (C) in the first round. Ferguson will slide right into the left tackle spot and add protection to some quarterbacks that are not used to getting it. Mangold will take over where Kevin Mawae left off and be the center of the present and future.

In the second round the Jets picked up Kellen Clemens (QB) after dropping out of pick #35 but back up to pick him up in some nice draft mastery and numbers. Clemmens comes from Oregon where he showed he could scramble and make the types of throws seen around the NFL every Sunday. He will join Chad Pennington and Patrick Ramsey for what will prove to be a very competitive training camp this July.

The rest of the picks were geared toward filling out and beefing up with Anthony Schlegel (ILB), Eric Smith (SS), Brad Smith (WR), Leon Washington (RB), Jason Pociask (TE), Drew Coleman (CB) and Titus Adams (DT).

In the end the Jets picked up ten guys to help fill the ranks, build the core and get back from a the horrible season that was 2005.
