A quick look at the 2008 NFL draft for the New York Jets, some needs and some things to avoid.

2008 Draft Preview - Jets Needs & Deeds

2008 NFL Draft

With the 2008 Draft less than twenty four hours away it it time to break down some possible moves and predictions.

No Need To Reach

There is plenty of talent to be had in the draft from the number six pick on down, no need to get crazy and reach up high for some player who won't help win this year. This is a defensive draft so stick to the big and fast guys who can disrupt the Patriots passing game. It worked in the Super Bowl and it will work for us.

Jet Kingdom Pick: Vernon Gholston, DE (Ohio St)

Get The Guy

Last year the Jets traded up twice to get two good players in Revis and Harris and that is a good strategy. Low end picks in the 5th and 6th rounds aren't worth as much so trade up in the late first and early second for value. Add another tall corner to the roster to help out Revis.

Jet Kingdom Pick: Leodis McKelvin, CB (Troy)

Go Big

Speed is great but size and speed are better and a few more big guys on the line would help out. All the off season moves were great, but another big guy on the offensive line would really help backup the running game.

Jet Kingdom Pick: Mike McGlynn, OT (Pittsburgh)

That all being said, predictions are useless in such a fluid draft with trades on every level.

Hang in there, it is going to be a bumpy ride.
