PUBLIC HEARING on the WEST SIDE STADIUM PROPOSAL
New York State Urban Development Corp. (Empire State Development Corp.) has scheduled a public hearing on the "New York Sports and Convention Center Civic and Land Use Improvement Project."
DATE: December 16th, 2004 TIME: 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM PLACE: Javits Center, Room 1-E-15
The project involves use of the airspace over active rail yards bounded by 30th and 33rd streets, between 11th and 12th avenues. The project also entails the development of the pedestrian bridge that will cross Route 9-A at 33rd St. and contemplates the development of a "multi-use facility" - a 75,000-seat football stadium that will also be used for conventions and other special events - that will be constructed on a publicly-funded platform to be built over the rail yards.
