Jets 2007 NFL Draft Review
A look at the 2007 NFL Draft what the New York Jets did and what other surprises there were in the AFC East and the NFL as a whole.
The New York Jets went into the 2007 NFL Draft with more than a handful of picks and a few needs and came out with four solid players. We covered the first two picks of Darrelle Revis and David Harris on day one now let's move on to the second day.
Unlike the first day the Jet chose to stay in their picks and go offense picking up Jacob Bender an offensive tackle from Nichols and David Harris and wide receiver from Clemson.
Jacob Bender (OT)
Bender, while a late round pick seems to look like a solid edition. Weighing in at 316 pounds and standing 6 foot 6 inches, he should be able to stand up and provide a path for Thomas Jones to run behind.
Chansi Stuckey
Stuckey is a smaller, speed receiver from Clemson who got side-lined with an injury in his senior year. He looks to add to the depths of the special teams as well as compete for a spot as the number three receiver.
Biggest News & Moves
There is no doubt that Brady Quinn's slide down in the first round of the draft was the biggest news of the weekend. Not only did it seem like heresy for the Dolphins not to take him at number nine but a good deal for the Browns to jump back in for a first round pick next year and get in late.
The Oakland Raiders who once gave away the house for Randy Moss let him float over to the Patriots for just a forth round pick. On paper the Moss trade makes New England a better team and now right in line to be picked for the next Super Bowl. Off the field Moss has been known to be a problem involved in incident after incident which always seem to follow him onto the field as well. He has a horrible work ethic and has admitted to playing only when he wants. It will be interesting to see how he fits into a team that seems like is everything he isn't.
Of course the number one pick of JaMarcus Russel from LSU going to the Raiders is the big story. The Raiders are starving for a great quarterback who can lead that team to success and while Russel has raw talent he is probably a few years away from being a game changer.
Stay tuned for our AFC East Draft grades tomorrow.
