New York Jets Announce PSLs. The Good, The Bad & The Ugly

Jets vs Giants PSL Prices & Plans

After years of waiting through the West Side Stadium, the Queens Stadium and now in the joint Jets/Giants stadium being built in the Meadowlands, the fans have been through a lot. During all of that time one of the biggest questions has been, will the fans get priced out of the stadium. The answer is both yes and no.

The Good

The good news is the Jets are NOT requiring PSLs on all 27,000 upper level seats. Those seats will be had for a low low low price of $0 PSL. Compare that to the Giants who are asking $1,000 per seat PSL it sounds too good to be true. It is, a little. While the Giants are asking for a $1,000 PSL their ticket prices are going to be $85 and $95 a game, while the Jets are going to charge $95 and $105 for the same seats. Not a huge jump and certainly understandable with no PSL.

The Bad

The bad news comes for those in lower level seating who will be asked to cough up between $4,000 and $20,000 in PSLs. There will be a 20% deposit due and financing available for paying it off in five years. A lot of fans are not going to be able to pay those prices so will be looking to move up to the land of no PSLs which brings us to...

The Ugly

Season tickets in the entire new stadium will be made available via seniority. This means that the most senior ticket holders, going back to 1977, will be offered first crack at any seat in the stadium. This means that a season ticket holder from 1980 who wants to move out of the expensive lower seats can now choose to move up to the upper level which seems pretty fair. In the same vein, if someone has been in the upper level for 30 years wants to pay the price and get the best seats in the house, they can as well. This might, however, create a gold rush effect for the upper level and leave thousands of upper level season ticket holders for the last five to ten years, with no other option but to buy into the lower level high ticket seats. This was confirm by the New York Jets season ticket office.

It is going to be a very bumpy ride for season ticket holders over the next year or so as everyone lines up to take their shot at the seats in the new stadium. Hopefully everyone will get a good seat they can afford, but as of the way they are doing it now, that might not be at all possible.
