The New Jets Stadium is Coming Along
The New Jets Stadium is Coming Along - hopefully they will follow this advice to make it a great fan experience.
The New York football Jets (and Giants) are eagerly awaiting the arrival of their new stadium...well, maybe their fans are looking forward to it more. I personally cannot wait for the new digs. I was recently at a soccer match at Giants Stadium and I have a few observations about why I cannot wait for the new stadium:
- awful food! There is no food at the stadium. Everything is the same and it's all pre-made crap. I hope the new stadium gets this right.
- closed concourses. We need open air concourses! Let us breathe when getting in and out of the stadium please. It's a football stadium - let it be cold.
- Scoreboards. I know that it has been published that we will be getting awesome new HD video boards - SWEET! The existing ones could use a refurb but I guess there is no need in putting too much money into a dying relic.
- Parking. They better get this right when they knock down the existing stadium. With all the Xanadu stuff going up they are going to need to get a parking lot design guru in there.
- The Izod Arena. KNOCK THIS DOWN TOO! It's an eye sore and it will make for better parking if it wasn't there (see #4).
- Beer selection. Make sure that there is more then just Miller and Bud light please!
- The cap rule! What the hell is the matter with having the caps on the bottle of water? Why do they make you take off the cap and leave it at the refreshment stand? I don't get it at all..
- The sun. If at all possible keep the sun out of our faces. I know this is a lot to ask but I am sure with some imaginative engineering and design it could be done.
- Vendors. Follow the lead of Yankee Stadium where you don't have to get off your ass at all, in any section, to eat a complete meal full with beers, hot dogs, cotton candy, peanuts, and Soda. Seriously, you can't get anything at all at a Jets game.
- Overall comfort. Please just make the seats a tad bit wider and allow for a little more leg room. I want to be a little more comfortable and I don't want to stand up whenever someone in my row needs to pee.
Hopefully someone in the Jets front office will read this and take it seriously.
