Study: Jets
fans will ride
More than two-thirds of Jets fans plan to use mass transportation to commute to a new stadium on Manhattan's far West Side, a new study reveals.
The study - conducted by Schulman, Ronca and Bucuvalas Inc. on behalf of the city and the Metropolitan Transportation Authority - shows the number of mass transit users likely would grow to 75% of season ticket holders once the No. 7 subway line is extended from Times Square to 11th Ave. and 34th St.
"The study underscores how a strong mass transit network will help make Hudson Yards a vibrant 2-4/7 neighborhood," City Planning Director Amanda Burden said.
But the New York Public Interest Research Group said it was skeptical about the city's claim that most of the stadium's patrons will take public transportation.
