Underground Moving Walkway

The existance of an underground moving walkway will encourage more mass transit use to the New York Sports and Convention Center. I support the inclusion of an Underground Moving Walkway, as described in Chapter 26 of the EIS, starting on page 26-33 (page 39 of 190 in the PDF). This walkway, under 31st Street, will connect the New York Sports and Convention Center to Pennsylvania Station and the Eighth Avenue Subway. This will also be of primary benefit to New Jersey Transit and Amtrak riders. It is anticipated that MTA/Long Island Railroad and MTA/Metro North riders will take the Flushing Subway from Grand Central Terminal. I would also encourage a study to extend the moving walkway to Sixth Avenue, to include PATH, the Sixth Avenue Subway, and a possible connection to the new New Jersey Transit terminal under 34th Street near Sixth Avenue.
