History is Happening Now

To: NYC2012 Supporters From: Jay L. Kriegel, Executive Director Friday, April 8, 2005 The countdown continues. In less than 90 days, the International Olympic Committee will meet in Singapore to decide which city will host the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games. The momentum for New York's Bid continues to build around the world. We need you in the last weeks of this global race - especially as the Olympic Stadium project heads into its final approval. If you have not had the opportunity to sign our petition of support, please take a moment now to do so: http://www.nyc2012.com/en/petition.html Last week, NYC2012 Founder and Deputy Mayor for Economic Development and Rebuilding Daniel Doctoroff led New York's delegation to Brisbane, Australia for an important Olympic meeting. Once again, Around the Rings, the top Olympic publication, reported that presentations to IOC members and other Olympic officials by New York and London were tops among the five Candidate Cities. With only two more public presentations to IOC members before the final meeting in Singapore, the successful presentation in Australia marks another important milestone. In addition, the European press recently reported that the IOC's official report on the five bids will rank New York in the top tier. If true, it is yet another indication of the growing momentum for New York around the world. Back in New York, the campaign continues to complete all approvals for the Olympic Stadium, fulfilling the Mayor's and Governor's commitment to the IOC that these approvals will be in place before the IOC votes on July 6. Following the MTA's unanimous vote awarding the site to the New York Jets, the final step will be a vote by the Public Authorities Control Board (PACB). Its vote must be unanimous. The PACB has these members: Governor George Pataki, State Senate Majority Leader Joseph Bruno, and State Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver. Together we will make sure that our elected officials and all New Yorkers understand that there is no time for delay. We are well positioned to win the honor of hosting the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, but we will not win without full approval of the Olympic Stadium by July 6. The IOC clearly stated that uncertainty surrounding the Stadium is New York's biggest weakness. With less than three months to go, we will continue to make New York's case around the world, and we need your help to continue the campaign here at home: http://www.nyc2012.com/en/petition.html I urge you to make sure your voice on this issue is heard and sign our petition of support. Best regards, Jay L. Kriegel Executive Director P.S. Encourage your friends to be a part of history. Together, we can bring the Olympic Games to New York. http://www.nyc2012.com/en/petition.html Copyright © 2004 NYC2012, Inc.
