Where did the J E T S JETSJETSJETS chant come from?

The JET chante (J! E! T! S! JETS!JETS!JETS!) started in when the New York Jets used to play in Shea Stadium. It started as an upper deck thing as a way to get the fans into the game.

Later when the Jets moved to Meadowlands Stadium the two sides of the upper deck (300s) would go back and forth trying to be louder than the other. Feeling like the lower deck was too quiet, Fireman Ed got up on a railing and tried to get his section to do the chant. Ed slipped on the railing and was caught by his brother who told him to get on his shoulders to do the chant.

Ed has been leading the charge ever since.
